Web Services Engineer In this role as the Web Services Engineer you are responsible for assisting the research and academic applications development team with day to day maintenance of the university website and web applications as well as research and deployment of new technologies to satisfy academic technology demands. This position reports to the Associate Director University Web Sites and is a member of a small development team. This is an addition to the staff and provides a unique opportunity for someone to develop this new role. Role of the Web Services Engineer • Analysis, design and development of Internet-facing applications that interface with one or more existing university systems and/or remote service. • Day-to-day maintenance of existing university sites and applications with Internet-facing components, including editing of text and HTML, bug fixes, design and extension of design, documentation of processes, enhancements and modifications. • Research, analysis, reporting, deployment and support of vendor-supplied applications with Internet-facing components, in support of the academic mission of the university. Essential Experience and Technical Skills of the Web Services Engineer • At least 5 years ColdFusion development experience working as a senior developer • Strong familiarity with SQL, especially Oracle 9+ and MSSQL Server 2005-2008 • Experience with jQuery and CFWheels frameworks (or similar MVC framework) desirable • Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to present and mentor • Bachelor's degree • Experience working in an academic or service-oriented environment is preferred
